Peer Mentors are upper-class undergraduate students who meet a required 2.8 grade point average and are involved in a variety of organizations and activities on campus. In most cases Peer Mentors have a major relevant to the theme/academic major of their respective LIFE cluster. The Peer Mentor is responsible for the academic quality and tone of the first-year experience of all students in the LIFE Program. Peer Mentors teach University 101 classes, help students form study groups, organizes relevant field trips, invites speakers pertinent to the LIFE cluster theme, as well as spends time interacting with students on an informal basis.
Peer Mentors apply for this job because he or she is interested in teaching experience and in the success of first year students. Peer Mentors meet weekly with other Peer Mentors in a Peer Mentor Practicum course taught by the Coordinators of the LIFE Program. Peer Mentors are compensated for their participation in this program.
