Many registered student organizations at the University of Delaware help worthwhile causes and organizations on the national and international level but tend to overlook the local Newark community. In turn, our clusters have combined to create a new Registered Student Organization at UD, Helping Hens, which specifically fills this void. This organization has already been active in the community with several highway cleanup efforts, and also participation in the SGA Thanksgiving Food Drive, collecting over 75 pounds of food to be donated to the Emmaus House. All of the L!FE students in these two clusters seem extremely excited about the opportunities this organization presents, and many have readily volunteered to take leadership positions. Under the guidance of our faculty advisor President Patrick Harker, this organization provides first-year students the opportunity to get involved with a student organization in which they can be an active member for the duration of their academic careers at UD. Our presentation will emphasize the community service efforts in which we have already participated along with our future service endeavors.
