On November 11th our LIFE Cluster devoted our time and help to Faithful Friends Animal Shelter, a nonprofit organization in Wilmington , Delaware. We broke up into several groups that were able to help in different areas. One group helped clean out the dog kennels, by bleaching the walls of the cages, filling their water and food dishes, and cleaning out the back of the animal shelter. We each also got to spend time individually with our own dog where we were able to walk and play with them. The other group organized food and medicine donations and put together houses for dogs. By organizing the shelter it made it easier for the volunteers to find the right food quickly, as well as making a better environment for the animals. We hope that through our work we were able to assist them in their mission of providing medical care and a homelike setting where dogs and cats can live free of stress and fear until new homes are found for them. This experience showed us how animals are also living things, and need love and care just like humans do.
